What Prep2go does well
Prep2go's approach is check-first: take a timed mock, get an AI report, see where you stand. That is a genuinely useful thing, and their execution has nice touches — the listening exercises simulate background noise (the real exam room is not silent), the writing templates enforce word counts, and there are Anki vocabulary decks with native audio for people who already live in spaced repetition.
It is also inexpensive — $27 lifetime for Pro at the time of writing — and it covers citizenship exams for five countries, which matters if your household is preparing for more than one nationality process at once.
What CIPLE Ready does differently
I built CIPLE Ready to be the daily study system, not the checkpoint. The difference shows in three places:
- Volume and structure: 2000 grammar exercises across 20 modules with three difficulty levels, 876 exam-relevant words with European Portuguese audio, and separate tracks for reading, writing, listening, and speaking. You can practise every day for two months without repeating yourself.
- Feedback where you cannot self-check: every writing task gets AI feedback and every speaking task gets AI transcription and evaluation — not only a report at the end of a mock.
- Mock depth: 10 full mock exams matching the official structure are included. After I passed the real exam myself (Bom), I rebuilt them to match its actual difficulty.
The honest trade-offs in the other direction: CIPLE Ready costs more (€79.50 launch price vs $27), and it only covers CIPLE — if you need the Spanish or German citizenship exam too, we cannot help you there.
So — is Prep2go worth it?
As a readiness check: yes. If you want a quick, cheap external signal of whether you would pass CIPLE tomorrow, a timed mock with a report does exactly that, and $27 is a fair price for it.
As your entire preparation: that depends on what you are missing. A mock tells you that your writing is weak; it does not sit with you through eighteen writing tasks giving feedback until it stops being weak. If your gaps are small, mocks plus Anki may be all you need. If Portuguese grammar still fights back, you need a system to train it, whether that is CIPLE Ready, a teacher-led course, or a very disciplined self-study plan.
Which one should you pick?
